About us
Alright, what’s StopTheScroll, actually? Here’s our mission and what makes us different.
StopTheScroll is a digital media campaign, advocating for increased digital literacy and aiding against unhealthy social media and content consumption. But there’s a little more to the story.
I’m Yav, and I’m the creator of StopTheScroll. Yes, this is ‘just’ a HSC Enterprise Computing project, but it comes out of a place many of us are familiar with - being overactive on social media, doomscrolling into the depths of a crisis - the issues are right here, right now, and not enough people are doing much about it.
What makes StopTheScroll different?
The original goal for StopTheScroll was to inform the public about the dangers of mindless scrolling, doomscrolling, data privacy etc. but the further I read into the problem, the more I understood; everyone already knows about the problems with the scroll.
Either you accept the problem, or try to fight it, but each of us have our own methods to do so, and making another blog on the corner of the internet isn’t going to help. So what do we do instead?
StopTheScroll gives you solutions to the problem. The campaign doesn’t just explain the problem, it actively tries to solve it, one step at a time. That’s what makes StopTheScroll different.
StopTheScroll does not contain AI generated articles.
In researching for these articles, I kept running into AI generated content over and over again. While the presentation at first glance was alright, the information contained within those articles were often malformed or hallucinated.
No amount of AI generated content is going to fix our relationship with technology. That’s why no article on StopTheScroll is AI generated; all articles are written and edited by humans, for humans.
StopTheScroll is free, forever.
No paywalls, no ads. StopTheScroll is here to support you in improving your life, not to profit from it. I’m committed to provide a pure, distraction-free space where you can focus on your growth.
StopTheScroll aims for accurate, high quality journalism. But it might not be the best.
As humans, we make mistakes. Every article on StopTheScroll gets direct feedback before publishing, but there may still be errors and room for improvement.
If you have any feedback, or just want to have a chat, contact me on stopthescrollcampaign@gmail.com, or use our feedback form.
That’s it from me! I hope you enjoy StopTheScroll. - Yav
